Small Middle School SEL PRIDE Lessons Scope & Sequence
2017 - 2018
Purpose:
Small Middle School is a campus serving a highly diverse population of students coming from 36 distinct elementary campuses. To better serve our students, Small understands that children need to feel connected to their school. Research shows that students who experience a caring, nurturing relationship with their teachers, are more motivated to learn and thus more prone to excel academically. Through PRIDE class and research based SEL lessons our hope is to cultivate a culture of compassion that is united by or in spite of their
differences. Small embraces diversity and respects individuality!
Theme: Resilient, Compassionate Communities
Lesson Cycle: Compassion, Community Building, Resilience, Emotional Management, and Reflection
Goal: To increase the percentage of the following SEL skill, as per the 2017 AISD Student Climate Survey, from 59% to 70%.
“It is easy for me to talk about my problems with the adults at my school.”
